Port Blair, July 4: Continuing its stringent action against crime, the South Andaman District Police has apprehended nine persons namely Mohd. Imran (40) yrs, R/o Lamba Line, Biswajit Mondal (42) yrs, R/o Garacharma, Prasanjit Debnath (27) yrs, R/o Prem Nagar, Mohd. Ijul Islam (22) yrs, R/o Prem Nagar, Govindo Mondal (33) yrs, R/o Kamraj Nagar, Santa Halder (25) yrs, R/o Junglighat, Patit Mondal (25) yrs, R/o Garacharma Basti, Tarun Biswas (38) yrs, R/o Chandini Chowk and Lawki Halder (36) yrs, R/o Kamraj Nagar and recovered Rs. 13,890/- including board money Rs. 8,800/- and other incriminating articles from the accused persons. All the accused have been booked under A & N Islands Gambling Regulation, 1951 at PS Aberdeen.
The general public have been requested to pass on any credible information pertaining to gambling or any other illegal activities on the following telephone numbers 233077, 232400, 232405 & 100. The identity of the informer will be kept secret.
