Port Blair, June 28: The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries, Govt. of India implements a Central Sector component “Safety of Fishermen at Sea” under the scheme “Development of Marine Fisheries Infrastructure and Post Harvest Operations. Under the scheme, 75% of unit cost of communication equipments such as GPS, DAT, Echo-sounder/Fish Finder etc. are given as subsidy to the fishermen through the Cooperative Federations and PRIs.
The fishermen of these islands interested to avail subsidy towards procurement of safety equipments such as Distress Alert Transmitters, GPS, Fish Finder etc. Have been requested to contact their nearest agency viz. A&N Fisheries Cooperative Federation Limited, Port Blair, Panchayat Samities, Diglipur, Mayabunder, Rangat and submit their application to the respective agencies on or before 20th July, 2016.
