Port Blair, June 23: The General Secretary, Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Mr B Chandrachoodan has threatened the administration of continuous strike from July 9th if the administration, does not implement 1/30th Pay to the Daily Rated Mazdoors of Andaman Public Works Department.
According to Mr Chandrachoodan, the Lok Adalat has already directed the Administration to implement 1/30th Pay to the Daily Rated Mazdoors of Andaman Public Works Department as per the rule of Government of India, but during the hearing the Administration demanded three months time for scrutinizing and the three months are going to end on 9th July.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, Mr B Chandrachoodan said that last year even after the written assurances the Administration hasn’t implemented 1/30th Pay to the Daily Rated Mazdoors of Andaman Public Works Department, which resulted into a two day long strike by the DRMs of the department for which people of these Island suffered a lot.
“The CITU organised a meeting with the members of all parts on 19th June where it was decided that if the administration does not implement 1/30th Pay to the DRMs of APWD this time than the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), Andaman & Nicobar Islands alongwith the DRMs of APWD will go on a continuous strike for which the administration will be completely responsible,” said Mr Chandrachoodan.
