Port Blair, June 23: A massive fire this morning destroyed a house at Prem Nagar.
According to the residents of the area, when firefighters arrived, the entire house was engulfed in flames.
However, no one suffered any injuries in the accident.
As per reports, the owner of the house was a fisherman and at the time of fire there was no one inside the house.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the residents of the area said that they themselves controlled the fire and after they controlled the fire a team of Fire Brigade arrived on the scene.
However, the Chief Fire Officer, Mr. B Saigal maintained that the Fire Service took no time to reach the spot as soon as the Fire Call was received.
He said that Fire Service was able to prevent spreading of fire in the surrounding areas because of the prompt response.
The cause of the fire was short-circuit, it is learnt.
The owner of the house and residents of the area alleged that no one from the side of the administration visited to accident site.
“Only the ward councilor came here but he too went back after giving us some assurances,” a resident of the area said.
