Port Blair, Apr 24: Shri Prasun Mukherjee, Vice President, Athletic Federation of India in his address at the concluding day programme of Sudhangshubala Memorial Volleyball Tourney organized by Shri Bhabesh Majumder, founder of SB Foundation Trust, Kolkata, at Garacharma Mini Stadium on 23rd April,16 has praised the efforts of the trust which has rendered remarkable but selfless contribution to the people of Nadia Distt, WB and now has taken best foot forward to promote sports and other welfare measures in these remote islands with a motto to help the needy students, school going children and other financially week people of the isles by way of taking full responsibility for making MBBS doctors, gifting cycle and other study materials, and supply of drinking water thru hand pumps and giving medical equipment etc.
Mr Mukherjee has said that he is impressed with the people of these islands and has requested all of them to take benefit of the trust in a fair manner.
Mr. Bhabesh Majumder, the founder of the trust said that he is a social worker and keeps desire to bring smile on the face of financially week people of these islands for which he is always available to one and all. He has promised that every year he will contribute towards various developmental works of the islands and its people. Bhabesh has recorded his praise for all the teams who have participated in the tourney.
The concluding final match were played in between Andaman and Nicobar Police and Trisha club. While Trisha club has given tough competition to the AN Police team, yet by winning all the three series, AN Police has bagged Sudhangshubala rolling trophy and a cash award of Rs 1 lakh. Trisha bros and Swaraj club have won 1st and 2nd runners up rolling cups and cash award of Rs 50,000/- and 25,000/- respectively.
At the outset the students of Sagaritara School has staged yoga cum dance performance which has mesmerized the audience. Dr Ashirwadam, Principal was given gift items for the children by Bhabesh.
M/s PK Vanamali, former Addt. Chief Secretary, WB and former Director SBI PK Sarkar have also spoken on the occasion and gave prizes to various individuals and groups of the players along with Md Shafiq, Pradhan Mitakhadi, Rajesh Pal, former Pradhan, PR Singaram and Janaki Rao of Sports of authority of India.
Dignitaris and people from all walks of society have witnessed the programme and have praised for the foundation. Dinesh Kr Singh of Education deptt has welcomed the gathering and conducted the programme while Sanjay Meshak has proposed vote of thanks.
