Port Blair, April 10: The President, Pradesh Congress Committee, Mr Kuldeep Rai Sharma has invited his attention towards the problems being faced by the residents of newly created Wards in the city. In a letter, Mr Sharma said that even after six months of the Municipal election, the newly included Wards suffer from lack of proper street lighting, sanitation, drinking water, repair and maintenance of foot paths and drainages, construction of footpaths etc. According to Ward Councillors, PBMC is suffering from shortage of manpower in sections like Sanitary, Works, Water Supply as well as electric to provide and maintain essential services in the newly extended area the workforce has not been increased after the extension of Municipal limits. Presently sanitation and other works are being carried out with the existing staff and increase in the workforce has become essential to provide better civic amenities in the newly included areas, said Mr Sharma requesting the Lt. Governor to initiate necessary steps to augment the staff strength of the civic body to provide better amenities to the residents .
