Port Blair, Apr 07: Extending open supports to protesting CDC holders, the chairperson of South Andaman Zilla Parishad, Mrs. Minati Biswas, today joined the CDC holders in their protest.
According to details she sat on hunger strike today from 10.30 AM to 10.30 PM, supporting the CDC holders.
Nearly 10 days back the South Andaman Zilla Parishad Adhyaksha had said that she would join the protest if the administration does not resolve the issue within 10 days.
Not only the South Andaman Zilla Parishad Adhyaksha but also the PBMC Chairperson, Smti. Sheela Singh, Aam Aadmi Party convener and counsellor Mr Sanjay Meshack and TDP councillor, Mrs Pratima Banerjee, TDP General Secretary, A & N Islands, Mr. Azizur Rehman also reached at the protest site today to extend their support to the agitating youths.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, South Andaman Zilla Parishad, Mrs. Minati Biswas said that as the matter has not been resolved yet, as promised she came to support the protest. “If still the matter is not resolved we will do what is necessary. Youths of these Islands are often exploited openly by various departments by giving them temporary jobs and removing them when they are over-aged. This is what, happened in the case of CDC holders also,” she added.
