Port Blair, Apt 05: ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (CIARI), Nimbudera organized Kisan Sammelan on newly launched Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) with farmers, PRI members, Officers of line departments and bankers of N&M Andaman district at Tugapur on 4thApril 2016 at 10:00 AM. The programme has been organized to create awareness about new Pradhan Mantri Fasal Beema Yojna (PMFBY) and its benefit to farming community.
The Programme was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Smt. Prabhabati Biswas, Adhyaksha, ZillaParishad, N&M Andaman, in presence of Smt K. Nachiamma, Pramukh, Panchayat Samiti, Mayabunder; Pradhan, Pahalgaon; Zilla Parishad members; Divisional Forest Officer, Mayabunder; Assistant Commissioner, Rangat; Project Director, ATMA, N&M Andaman; Officers from line department; Banking institutions; Senior Scientist and Head, KVK, Nimbudera and others. In her inaugural speech the Chief Guest appreciated the schemes launched by Pradhan Mantri for the benefits of farmers. Pramukh and Zilla Parishad members lauded the efforts of KVK in organizing the Kisan Sammelan for imparting knowledge on PMFBY and demonstrations on various scientific technologies to farmers. Divisional Forest Officer emphasized the need for silviculture in the islands. Project Director (ATMA) urged the farmers to make use of new launched Fasal BimaYojana to overcome crop losses.
Senior Scientist and Head, KVK welcomed the gathering and highlighted advantages of newly launched crop insurance scheme. Technical session was conducted after the inaugural session wherein district level officers from line department, bank managers from lead banks, SMS, KVK were participated. During the technical session interactive meeting was held on different agricultural schemes, organic farming, soil health management, water and soil conservation and live- stock management.
Bank managers explained about the modalities of newly launched crop insurance schemes whereas Dr. Shailesh Kumar, SMS, KVK clarified the doubts of the farmers about the scheme. In addition to this method demonstrations and exhibition on different agricultural practices was shown by Shri D. Basantia, Er. Manoj Kumar Shri B. L. Meena, Shri Tanmay Paul and Shri Prasanta Pradhan. In the programme about 350 persons were participated including 300 farmers representing from all the three tehsils of N&M Andaman district. In the beginning Dr. Pooja Kapoor welcomed the Chief Guest, dignitaries and the participants and Dr. Shardul Vikram Lal proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was organised under the supervision of Dr. B. L. Kasinath, Head, KVK and guidance of Dr. S. Dam Roy, Director, CIARI, Port Blair.
