Port Blair, March 23: The Port Blair Municipal Council will set up special camps at different community halls on March 26 and 27, 2016 from 9 am to 1 pm for collection of taxes like Property tax, Water charges Conservancy fee, Market rent, Hoarding fee etc. Residents have been requested to avail the opportunity and pay their respective dues at any nearest community halls. They have also been requested to bring the last paid municipal tax receipt for easy assessment of dues and quick payment.
Meanwhile, the allottee/tenant of the municipal markets those who have applied for transfer of tenancy rights have been asked to pay the due amount of market rent and municipal taxes upto date for consideration of their cases. Proprietor of Hotels/Lodges have also been requested to renew their lodging licence by paying all the due amount of municipal taxes.
All residents have been requested to pay their dues before March 31, 2016 to avoid the termination of municipal service including disconnection of water tap connection, non removal of garbages from houses, removal of unauthorized hoarding etc. The Municipal Council had already taken a serious note on defaulters of municipal taxes and passed a resolution to impose 2% as late fee charges on outstanding amount.
