Port Blair, May 07: The long awaited Central Government Holiday Home will be inaugurated tomorrow. Mr R S Sheroaan, Additional Director General for Southern Region, Central Public Works Department (CPWD) will inaugurate the Holiday home at Lamba Line Port Blair tomorrow morning. The Chief Engineers of CPWD (SR), Mr P P Srinivasan and Mr K K Peshin will also be present on the occasion.
To fulfill the long felt need of the Central Government Employees across the country for comfortable accommodation during their visit to the islands, the Holiday Home project was started in August, 2010 near the Central Government Office complex in Ranchi Basti, Lamba Line at Port Blair at the cost of about 3 crore rupees. This three storied building has 11 spacious double bedded rooms and 4 Suites, besides a kitchen and dining lounge.
According to Mr Rajendra Prasad, Executive Engineer of CPWD, Port Blair, the advance bookings for the accommodation at this Holiday Home can be made by the Central Government Employees only through online. The Union Ministry of Urban Development launched the online booking facility for about 10 holiday homes in different parts of the country, as the conventional method of booking was time consuming and the facility was not accessible to a large section of the employees.
The serving and retired central government employees will now avail this facility at their doorsteps through the website of Directorate of Estates www.estates.nic.in
