Port Blair, Jan 17: The PCC President Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma met the Shri Anand Prakash, IAS, Chief Secretary, A & N Administration on 14/1/2016 and draw his attention towards the hardships being faced by the people of North India particularly the people of West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkand, Uttrakhand, Odisa, Utter Pradesh and Delhi due to non availability of ship as well as air tickets, especially during the tourist season and school vacation period, for their journey from Port Blair to their home town and back.
The PCC President said that good number of people belonging to West Bengal, Bihar, Odisa, Jharkhand, Uttakhand, Utter Pradesh, Delhi and other states of North India are residing in these islands. Most of them are very poor and are not financially sound to bear the exorbitant air ticket charges prevailing at present.
Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma requested the Chief Secretary, A & N Administration to look into the matter and introduce/start Chartered flight service at the earliest between Port Blair and Kolkata also, as is being done in the Chennai sector, to mitigate the hardships of the people of West Bengal. Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttrakhand, Odissa, Utter Pradesh, Delhi and other states of North India.
The Chief Secretary, A& N Administration, after giving a patient hearing to the PCC President assured appropriate early action in the matter.
