Port Blair, Jan 1: The Annual Sports Meet of MES School, Stewart Gunj for the year 2015-16 was held with great enthusiasm by the students on Friday. Dr Suman Devi. Deputy Director of Education (Academic), Directorate of Education was the inaugurated the meet as the chief guest.
In her address, Dr Suman emphasized on the importance of sports in life and said that it not only give discipline but also develops a sound mind. She expressed her happiness for achievement of Sasitha Bhengra, a student of this school who won one gold and two silver medal at state sports. She was given cash award by the management. In the House-wise competition, Rose House stood first scoring 81 points while the Lotus House bagged the runners-up position with 78 points.
Ms V K Mariyam Bibi, Zilla Parishad Member, Wimberly Gunj was the chief guest of the closing ceremony. She gave away prices to the winners of various competitions.
