Port Blair, Dec 13: ICAR- KVK, N&M Andaman organized a two days training programme on “Fish diseases and its management measures” for extension functionaries of N&M Andaman district at Zilla Parishad Hall, Mayabuder. The training was inaugurated by Smt. K. Nachiamma, Pramukh, Panchayat Samiti, Mayabunder in presence of Shri Bhaskar Bagachi, Member, Panchayat Samiti, Basantipur, Shri S. K. Talukdar, Asst. Director (Fisheries), Shri Jayanto Biswas, Deputy Project Director, ATMA, Dr. B. L. Kasinath, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK, N&M Andaman and others. In her inaugural speech Smt. Nachiamma, appreciated the efforts made by KVK in organizing trainings on Fish diseases for imparting better awareness among farmer’s through extension functionaries and field staff of developmental departments. She also requested support and guidance of KVK in imparting knowledge and information to local fishermen of N&M Andaman district. Dr. Shailesh Kumar, SMS (Fisheries) & course coordinator briefed the content of two days training programme and urged the participants to make it more interactive for better sharing of knowledge and field experience. Dr. B. L. Kasinath, Senior Scientist & Head had detailed discussion on role of KVK in strengthening fisheries in particular and rural farming as a whole.The participants were also apprised on role of Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) in serving farming communities where Shri, Jayanto Biswas spoke on effective way of extension programme to farmers field. Shri S.K. Talukdar gave detail account on status of fish culture in N&M Andaman and highlighted on fish seed production and nursery rearing of fish seeds.
Experts of KVK had interactive sessions & presentations on topics Fish in human nutrition, methods of fish farming in and around India and water quality management in culture system etc. Scientists of Fisheries Division, CIARI, Port Blair Shri K. Shravanan, Shri Arunjyoti Barua and Shri T. Sivaramakrishnan delivered lectures and showed visuals on fish quarantine & surveillance of fish diseases, fungal and parasitic diseases, bacterial diseases, nutritional diseases of fish & its management measures respectively. A total of 39 officers and field staff of N&M Andaman District from Department of Fisheries, Department of Agriculture, Department of Forest, Department of Social Welfare and Block Development Office, Maybunder participated in the training programme. In the feedback session, participants appreciated the content of training programme and shared their valuable experience and suggestions for development of fisheries in N&M Andaman District. The training was organized under the supervision of Dr. B. L. Kasinath and Dr. Nagesh Ram and under the guidance of Dr. S. Dam Roy, Director, CIARI, Port Blair.
In the beginning Shri B. L. Meena, SMS (Agronomy) welcomed the Chief Guest, dignitaries and the participants and Shri Prasanta Pradhan, Computer Programmer proposed the vote of thanks.
