Port Blair, Nov 20: World AIDS Day will be observed in these islands by the Andaman and Nicobar AIDS Control Society on Dec 1, 2015. Month-long activities have chalked out as part of the observance. Accordingly, Intercollege Debate competition were held on Nov 17 and 18, 2015 at JNRM on the topic “Same Sex Marriage to be legalized in India or Not?.
In the boys division, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes were bagged by Andaman & Nicobar College (ANCOL), Govt. Tagore College of Education and Jawahar Lall Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM) respectively. In the girls category, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes were bagged off by Govt. Tagore College of Education, Andaman & Nicobar College (ANCOL), and Jawahar Lall Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM) respectively.
Dr. R. K. Halder, Project Director, A & N AIDS Control Society personally supervised the programme. Dr. N. Francis Xavier, Principal, JNRM graced the programme as the chief guest. The competition was facilitated by Dr. Jahanara Yasmeen, Dy. Director (IEC), ANACS.
