Port Blair, Nov 19: The four days long Joint Coastal Security Exercise conducted in the Andaman Sea will conclude on Friday. The Central and State maritime stakeholders i.e A & N Administration, A & N Police, Police Marine Force (PMF), India Reserve Battalion (IRBn), CISF, Customs, Fishers Department, Forest Department, Port Management Board (PMB), Directorate of Shipping Services (DSS), Director General Light House and Lightships (DGLL), and all intelligence agencies alongwith assets from Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard of Andaman and Nicobar Command are participating in the exercise.
The exercise was coordinated by Indian Coast Guard (Andaman & Nicobar Region) under overall direction and control of Headquarters Andaman & Nicobar Command. Tje exercise was conducted in two phases. In the first phase officials from all agencies participated in simulated drills. The second phase was the ‘Validation Phase’ conducted from 17 Nov 15. During the validation phase live situations were simulated to assess the coordination among the various stakeholders to the developing situations.
The exercise is the 12th in the series conducted in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Such exercises help in revalidating the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPSs) coastal security involving many agencies and synergizing the efforts that is so essential to security, a release from ANC says.
