Diglipur, November 04: A farmers’ meet was organized by the Diglipur administration at vegetable market this evening.
More than hundred farmers participated in the meet.
Assistant Commissioner, Shri A K Trivedi along with revenue officials, Block development officer, Officials of Agriculture department, Animal husbandry, manager SBI, staff of MNREGA, Pradhans of Subhashgram, Diglipur and R K Gram gram panchayat, Samiti members and PRI members participated and answered the queries raised by the farmers.
Asst. Director (Soil) Smti. Shirly Thomas , N & M Andaman elaborated about how excessive fertilizers leads to loss in various aspects, she also highlighted that the department is trying to neutralize the use of excess fertilizer by providing NPKS, but no farmers are interested in buying the same.
Therefore during the last one month about 50 ton of NPKS have returned back without selling. She also said that the department is slowly restricting the sale of pesticides as the farmers of Diglipur are using highly excessive quantity.
The other issues which were discussed during the meet are soil testing of their farms, better quality seeds, tissue culture lab, Sub depot at R K Gram, Soil Health Card, crop insurance, and better irrigation facilities and functioning of Cold storage at Diglipur market.
Assistant Commissioner concluding the meet said that the progress and prosperity of the farmers will lead to prosperity for the nation and directed the officials to convene meetings of farmers time to time and listen to their grievances and to resolve the problems on fast track.
He also requested the farmers to avail maximum benefits from the various welfare schemes implemented by the Agriculture Department.
