Billiground, Nov 02: ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Nimbudera, CIARI in association with Agriculture Department/ATMA has started a three days training program me on “Scientific Fruit cultivation” at Chainpur, Mayabunder from 28th to 30th Oct 2015. The training programme was ingrautaed in presence of Mr. Jayant Biwas, Deputy Project Director, ATMA. Dr. Sailesh Kumar and Debabrata Basantia of KVK, Nimbudera. On this occasion Sh. Debabrata Basantia (SMS, Horticulture), and course coordinator welcomed the guest and informed about the activities of Krish Vigyan Kendra and importance fruit cultivation in Chainpur area. The DPD, ATMA also informed the importance fruit crop and different schemes in agriculture department for promote Horticulture in this area. Dr. Sailesh Kumar (SMS, Fishery Science) emphasis on importance pond based horticulture system and fish pond management. In the 2nd day of training several important topic tropical fruits cultivation practices like papaya, banana, pine apple, sapota, guava, custard apple & other minor fruit was delivered by SMS, Horticulture Another topic like soil health management practices was delivered by Tanmai Paul, Farm Manager, KVK. Better livestock management practices also emphasized by Dr. Sadrul Vikram Lal SMS, Animal Science. The farmers were also informed about various conventional and non-conventional Agriculture practices fallowed by them because Chainpur is remote area and whole area paddy based single crop are and total area covered very poor drainage system with low laying waterlogged condition. The training will make the farmers aware about the available technological interventions for enhancing and diversifying the cultivated land to horticulture based cropping system. The programme is conducted under the guidance of Dr. B. L. Kashinath, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK, Nimbudera and Dr. S. Dam Roy, Director, CIARI. About 33 farmers participated in the programme.
