Port Blair, Oct 25: The Vice Chancellor, National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore, Prof. (Dr.) R. Venkata Rao called on the Lt Governor, Lt Gen A K Singh (Retd) at Raj Niwas. He was accompanied by Professor T V Subha Rao of the National Law School. During the discussion, the Vice Chancellor has agreed in principle to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding with the A & N Administration to provide technical support in establishing a Law School in the Islands. The National Law School is ready to provide capacity building of stakeholders in the Civil Administration and in Criminal Justice Administration, apart from rendering legal advice to the Administration, wherever required. The Lt Governor requested the Vice Chancellor to consider starting of an off-campus centre of a Law School at Port Blair.
The Vice Chancellor agreed to consider and take up the matter with the Competent Authority in the Ministry. During the discussion Chief Secretary and Secretary (Law), A & N Administration were also present.
