Port Blair, Apr 25: The Government of India has sanctioned a new Road and Drainage Project for Junglighat of Port Blair city.
The matter was earlier taken up by the lone Member of Parliament of A & N Islands, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray. The MP had demanded early sanction of the Road and Drainage Project under Port Blair Tehsil, South Andaman.
Now, replying to the MP’s request, Mr. Kamal Nath the Union Minister of Urban Development, GoI, New Delhi have informed that the new Road & Drainage Project at Junglighat has been sanctioned by him under Urban Infrastructure Development for Small & Medium Town (UIDSSMT).
“The project has an approved cost of Rs.558.13 Lakh, out of which a sum of Rs.446.50 Lakh will be the Central Share and Rs.223.25 Lakh will be the first installment Accordingly, the Ministry of Home Affairs the (Department of Expenditure) is being advised to release the funds to the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, by the Ministry of Urban Development,” Kamal Nath said in his reply letter to the Member of Parliament of A & N Islands.
