Port Blair, Apr 24: The President of A & N State BJP unit, Mr. R Mohan today urged the Chief Settlement Commissioner, Govt of India, Ministry of Rehabilitation, and the Secretary, Govt of India, Ministry of Environment and Forests, Paryavaran Bhavan, New Delhi to consider immediate handing over the management of ANIFPDCL to the A & N Administration.
In a letter, Mr. Mohan said that in the year 1983, the Rubber Board had handed over the management of Katchal Rubber Project to the ANIFPDCL with Sri Lankan repatriates who were settled by the Ministry of Rehabilitation at Katchal Island.
“The contributions of these repatriates to the development of Islands cannot be overlooked. But at present they are passing their days with acute hardship with poor wage structure. Due to no fault on the part of their activities, these poor fellows along with other employees of the ANIFPDCL are not allowed 6th pay commission and at par wage structure with the A&N Administration,” Mohan added.
