Port Blair, Apr 23: The Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray today alleged that the Administration has made a U-Turn in Tsunami Land Compensation case. During a press conference the MP said that today he had a meeting with the Chief Secretary of A & N Administration with members of Gram Sudhar Sangha.
“The Chief Secretary today clearly said that tsunami affected farmers, whose land has been inundated in sea water during tsunami, will get compensation of 9.39 Lakhs but for that farmers will have to surrender their land,” the MP said.
The MP said that Lt. Governor had earlier promised the tsunami affected farmers that they will be paid compensation and for this the Administration won’t ask them to surrender their land.
Meanwhile farmers of South Andaman have made their mind to continue their protest if the Administration asks them to surrender their land while releasing tsunami land compensation.
