Port Blair, August 24: A complaint has been registered by the Pradhan of Garacharma Panchayat following a clash with the Sarpanch, Garacharma this morning. While the Pradhan hails from BJP, the Sarpanch belongs to Congress, it is learnt.
According to sources, the Sarpanch and his supporters used to tease the Pradhan that he is not going to win in the coming elections. This morning such teasing took different turn when some supporters of the Pradhan reportedly slapped one of the members of Sarpanch Group.
Sources said that when the matter was informed to the Sarpanch, he came with a ‘Dah’ (Machete) to teach a lesson to the Pradhan group but in the clash the Sarpanch was beaten up by the Pradhan Group, following which the Sarpanch was taken to the hospital by the Police, it is learnt. A case has been registered in this regard and further investigations are on.
