Port Blair, Aug 24: On the fifth day of filling of nominations for Panchayat & Municipal Elections, 2015, altogether 435 nominations were filed for various Municipal, Member Zilla Parishad, Panchayat Samiti Member, Gram Pradhan and Gram Panchayat Members constituencies. On Monday, 23 nominations were filed for Zilla Parishad, 36 for Panchayat Samity Member, 44 for Gram Pradhan, 295 Gram Panchayat Member and 37 for Municipal Wards taking the progressive total to 499.
Meanwhile, the work of packaging of Polling Materials is underway and expected to be completed by 29th August 2015. Polling material for Campbell Bay & Little Andaman shall be dispatched on 26th August 2015.
The claims and objections received for modification of electoral rolls have been scrutinized and updated information will be uploaded on www.and.nic.in.
The teams constituted for preventing the violation of Modal Code of Conduct have been keeping constant vigil. The 55 (Fifty Five) number of defacements have been removed under Police Station Pahargaon, South Andaman District. It is again reiterated for the information of candidates going for nomination and Returning Officers that the maximum number of vehicles that will be allowed to come within the periphery of 100 meters of Returning Officers/ Assistant Returning Officers shall be three.
