Port Blair, July 16: The Adhyaksha, South Andaman Zilla Parishad, Ms VK Mariyam Bibi, recently met the Chief Secretary to draw his attention to some long pending issues of the villagers of Ferrargunj Tehsil. On the demand for road connectivity between Shoal Bay 19 and Shoal Bay 15, she said that the issue was placed before the Lt. Governor and instructions were also issued by the LG’s Secretariat to the concerned authorities to take up the work on priority. But, no satisfactory action has been initiated by the concerned department, she said. The Adhyaksha also requested for immediate action for repair of road from Bambooflat Jetty to CHC Bambooflat. The Chief Secretary is stated to have assured to issue necessary instructions to the Chief Engineer of APWD to take up the works on priority.
The Adhyaksha also met the Secretary, Health and highlighted the issue of non-functioning of Surgical/OT Unit in the CHC of the tehsil. Due to the redundant unit, patients from the remote areas are left with no other option but to go to GB Pant Hospital for minor surgical treatments, she said urging the Health Secretary to take immediate action to bring the Surgical Unit at CHC Bambooflat into operation. The Secretary, Health is stated to have assured to redress the issues on priority.
