Port Blair, May 11: Miss. V.K. Mariyam Bibi, Adhyaksha along with Mr. Deva Kumar, Zilla Parishad Member, Mannarghat had visited Shoal Bay 15 to 19 and interacted with the public. During the interaction the public informed the Adhyaksha that there are approximately 30 families residing at Shoal Bay 19 (old settlement of 1952) who are facing acute connectivity problem which deprives them from getting even the basic amenities.
They have to struggle hard to reach the main road which is about 6 KMs from their village. The situation becomes worse during the rainy season. They also informed that the issue of construction of rural road from Shoal Bay 15 to 16 is pending for the last 30 yrs and if the connectivity is established all round development of the area through tapping of tourist to the beach at Shoal Bay 19 and more employment opportunity could be achieved.
Ms. V.K. Mariyam Bibi, Adhyaksha, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman assured of all possible help by taking up the matter again with the Lt. Governor for early action. She also visited the on-going erection works of sluice gate in various places under South Andaman & instructed the Engineering Wing to complete the works at the earliest.
