Port Blair, Apr 10: Yet another death of a new born baby at G B Pant Hospital, have shocked Port Blair city. According to details available here the baby born to Ansar Ali and Shehnaz Begum of South Point on 9th April 2015 was said to be normal but the baby was not handed over to the parents on the same day.
Later it was communicated to the parents that the baby has some problem in her belly and parents were asked to bring some medicines also from outside.
According to parents the baby took mother’s milk normally but suddenly this evening the baby died at around 5.00 pm. “They didn’t tell us anything, mostly aayas and nurses spoke to us and they kept on assuring us that everything is ok and baby is normal but our baby died today. They did not even tell us the reason for this death. Fearing protest from our side they called police in the ward,” alleged the father of the child.
The family is now planning to file a case against the hospital authority for the reported negligence.
However, hospital authorities could not be contacted even after repeated attempts.
