Port Blair, Mar 29: Under the scheme of National Young Leaders Programme the Nehru Yuva Kendra, Rangat organized one day Neighbourhood Youth Parliament Programme on 28/03/2015 at the Gram Panchayat hall, Rampur, Mayabunder in which 80 participants from various youth clubs/mahila mondals of Mayabunder Block participated. The programme was inaugurated by Shri Saw Thomson, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Rampur by lighting the lamp in presence of resource persons. The chief guest in his speech appreciated the effort of NYK in developing leadership qualities among youths and said youth should understand their duties and responsibities towards their society. Earlier Shri Alphonce Toppo, District Youth Coordinator, NYK, Rangat welcomed the chief guest and gathering and briefed about the programme. The programme was organized in order to develop leadership qualities among the youth to enable them to realize their full pontential and in the process, to contribute to the nation building process.
On the occasion various topics i.e. Pradhan Mantri Jan Daan Yojna, Consumer right, Agriculture and allied activities, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Drug abuse and alcoholism, Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan, Skill development & self employment, sprit of volunterism etc. were deliberated by resource persons from various departments and other NGOs.
The participants also addressed the local issues, need and problems in which the issue of unemployment and intoxication were the main issue. Hence, the participants decided to organize more programme in their village and in this way they will be able to keep them away from taking intoxication.
All resource persons also suggested their view for the welfare of the youths.
On the other hand a Motorcycle rally from Netaji Sports Complex, Mayabunder to Panighat junction was organized on the same day in order to mobilize, motivate and generate a feeling of volunteerism among members of youth clubs and mahila mondals and people in general. Awareness generation and motivational activities for promoting and practicing Shram Daan for 100 hours by youth club members in a year will be organized. The rally was participated by 40 youths from the nearest area of mayabunder. On the occasion Shri Krishna Mohan Uppu, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, North & Middle Andaman, Mayabunder was the chief guest and he flagged off the rally.
In the valedicatory function of the rally Shri Saw Saytha, President, Karen Welfare Association and Shri Joga Rao, Industry Promotion Officer, Bakultala thanked everyone in joining the rally and requested to motivate other people. At the end of the programme Shri Alphonce Toppo, District Youth Coordinator, NYK, Rangat proposed vote of thanks and highlighted the objective of the rally.
