Port Blair, Mar 29: The Bharat Pur beach has become the most happening beach of Neil Island but together with fame, the tourism has also brought heap of garbage and dozens of makeshift shops at the Bharat Pur beach.
Nearly ten years back there was hardly any structure on Bharat Pur beach but as the number of visitors to Neil Islands started to increase suddenly now one can see there are nearly two dozen make shift shops on the beach.
There are already talks to convert these makeshift shops into Permanent structures, which will not only ruin the beauty of the beach but also cause inconvenience to everyone.
Today most of the shops owners at Bharat Pur beach are outsiders and have been selling everything right from ornaments to fast food. It won’t take much time for them to set up a kitchen there and start serving breakfast and lunch too.
Already without any permission these makeshift shop owners and other agents have brought benches and hoardings on the beach, obstructing normal movement of public.
Neil Island beaches are already flooded with garbage, especially plastic bottle and such unplanned development on Neil Island beach will soon turn the Neil Island into another Havelock Island.
The South Andaman District Andaman must take immediate step to vacate the Neil Island Bharat Pur beach and shift all these make shift shops to the vacant land between PHC Neil Island and the Bharat Pur Beach.
