Port Blair, Mar 24: With the view to popularize the organic farming, the Department of Agriculture, Diglipur in association with Agricultural Technology Management Agency (UTATMA), Diglipur has decided to organize capacity building programmes in various villages. In this regard a demonstration programmes on “Preparation of organic Liquid manures & Bio-pesticides’’were conducted various villages at Ramnagar,(ward No.07),Laxmipur (ward No.01),Khudirampur (ward No.04) & R.K. Gram (ward No. 08) during the month of March 2015.
During the demonstration programme Smti. Shirly Thomas, Assistant Director (soil), North & Middle Andaman, emphasized on the importance of organic farming and the use of Bio-pesticides for sustainable Agriculture development. Later on Shri. K.Lokanadhan, Assistant Technology Manager (ATMA) explained in detail about the preparation and usage of Bio-pesticides and practically demonstrated the method of preparation of Bio-pesticides. Smti.Manju, Agriculture Assistant urged the farmers to come forward and adopt these techniques as it is ecofriendly and economical. The participants farmers were also involved in preparing the Bio-pesticide – ‘Dashparni Extract’ & Jivamrut liquid manure. This demonstration will also be conducted in other villages too.
Altogether 20 to 30 farmers including farmers friends, ward members of all villages participated actively in the programme. The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Shri Limpus Xalxo, Assistant Technology Manager (ATMA).
