Port Blair, Mar 23: The Adhyaksha, South Andaman, Zilla Parishad while on a visit to Hut Bay, visited Schools of the Administration, both the Primary Health Centres, and inspected the RO Plant at Hut Bay. Local residents who met her suggested that the Zilla Parishad should actively consider the possibility of setting up a bottling plant for providing bottled water from the existing RO Plant .
They also demanded that there was need for another RO Plant to meet the local drinking water needs. She also visited several ongoing works undertaken by Zilla Parishad.
During her visit to the schools she checked the Mid Day Meal which was found to be tasty and nutritious and is being prepared in hygienic conditions. However, there is shortage of staff generally and particularly it is difficult to maintain cleanliness in the premises.
At the Primary Health Centres also there is shortage of staff. In one PHC the Medical staff has to attend to all the clerical work also since no clerical staff has been posted. The residents of the area made a strong plea for providing at least one Ultrasound machine for whole of Hut Bay since there is no Ultrasound facility available on the Island. The Adhyaksha assured she would take up the matter with the Administration.
