Port Blair, Mar 04: In the large public interest, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Member of Parliament, A&N islands has raised some crucial issues with the Secretary (Education), A&N Administration viz 41 schools in A&N Islands covered with Community Information Centre under the Vidhya Vahini Project have been facilitated five PCs and its accessories. Most of the PCs become obsolete due to improper maintenance. The MP opined to set up a Nodal agency to monitor the function and performance of the Community Information Centre under the Vidhya Vahini Project.
More than 20 Regular Craft Instructors (Computer Science) having the Master Degree and B.Ed under Education department are being used as Data Entry Operator. Such Craft Instructors could be utilized for teaching of Computer Education science, until the regular posts of GTT (Computer Science) are created in the department and filled with unemployed eligible candidates.
The facilities of Computer Education is only excess for the standard of 11th and 12th class whereas the Computer Science subject is not being taught from the standard from 6th to 10th class in all govt. schools. The computer education is an affective and proved the technical education for future carrier of the students. As such, the MP is opined to introduce Computer Education as an additional subject also in the classes from 6th to 10th standard.
The MP urged the A&N Administration to intervene in the matter in the larger public interest.
