Diglipur, Feb 06: The Agriculture Department, Diglipur organized a power tiller rally on 6th February’2015 as part of Diglipur Vikas Mela 2015. The rally was flagged off by the Chief Guest, Shri Gourango Dutta, Pramukh, Panchayat Samiti, Diglipur at 09:30 a.m from Fish market.
The main objective of the rally was to encourage the youth of the Islands to adopt mechanized farming in agriculture so as to boost the production and to bring sustainability in agriculture and strengthen their livelihood. It was also organized to retain the rural youths in Agriculture and to overcome the problem of labour shortage and timely preparation of land.
The rally started from Fish Market, Subashgram Bazaar and ended at Vivekananda Stadium, Diglipur. After the rally a meet of participants with the PRIs and the department officials was held at Vivekananda Stadium, Diglipur.
While addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest Shri Gourango Dutta, Pramukh, Panchayat Samiti, Diglipur appreciated the farmers for participating in rally. He emphasized the present need of Farm Mechanization for obtaining sustainable Agricultural production.
Speaking on the occasion Shri Mantu Biswas, Joint Director of Agriculture, P&P appreciated the farmers for their active participation. Shri Anjan Kumar Das, Joint Director (Agri). N&M Andaman urged to utilize the benefits of the schemes of Government of India.
Later on, Shri. Vijay Kumar, Assistant Director (Agri. Engg.) informed about the training programme on repair and maintenance of power tillers under NCVT scheme for skill development programme among the farmers.
On the basis of criteria like Date of Purchase, Maintenance and appearance of the Power Tiller prizes were awarded to the participants. The First prize was bagged by Shri. Tankeshwar Das, Madhupur village, second prize by Shri. Gautam Halder, Subashgram village, third prize by Shri. Khirod Gharami, V.S.Pally village followed by two consolation prizes to Shri. Biplob Howlader, Subashgram village and Shri. Amiyo Howlader, Subashgram village. The award carries Certificate and Cash Prize. The rest of the participants were awarded participation certificates.
