Port Blair, Feb 04: The Headquarters Guard Region (A&N) in association with the Coast Guard Wives Welfare Association (A&N) as part of the Coast Guard Day 2015 celebrations organized Inter School Quiz Competition on 04 Feb 14. Twelve teams from local schools enthusiastically participated in the event. A preliminary round was conducted to select the best teams for the final Competition. Six teams qualified in the written test and competed in the final round in the presence of large gathering of CG personnel, students, school teachers and parents of the participants.
Mrs Jayanthi Natarajan, President Coast Guard Wives Welfare Association (A&N) graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Inspector General K Natarajan PTM, TM Commander Coast Guard Region (A&N) also witnessed as the Guest of Honour. The professional quiz master Mr. Kowang Jao conducted quiz in various rounds on Currents Affairs, Sports, History, Heritages sites, Coast Guard role, Environment & Ecology, etc.
The team comprising of Miss Deepanjana Saha, Miss P Anjali and Master Adarsh Maurya of Vivekananda Kendriya Vidyalaya, Port Blair was adjudged winners of the Quiz Competition. Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1 and Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2 bagged 1st runners up and 2nd runners up position respectively.
The President Tatrakshika (A&N) presented medals and trophies to the winning teams. Speaking on the occasion the Regional Commander appreciated schools for wholehearted participation and efforts put in for preparing the students for the competition. The Coast Guard is also organising drawing/painting competition for the school children on 05 Feb 15 at Haddo, Port Blair. A communiqué received from PRO, Coast Guard.
