Port Blair, Feb 02: Two more persons have been arrested by the Police team of Central Crime Station, CID in the 24 kgs. Ganja case, one of the largest consignments caught by the CID Unit.
Acting strictly on the menace of Contraband substances in these islands, the police team of Central Crime Station under CID Unit has arrested one Chitter Khandelwal from West Bengal who had helped in sending the 24 Kgs. of illicit consignment of ganja from Mainland after a team was constituted and sent to Kolkata for arresting the accused. After persistent efforts, the team got success in arresting Chitter Khandelwal who was brought to Port Blair and produced before the Hon’ble Court of Sessions Judge. Another accused namely M. Raja Rao r/o Dairy Farm was also arrested in this case. Altogether 08 accused persons have been arrested so far, thus ensuring strict follow up by the CID in such drug related cases in the islands. All the arrested accused persons are in Judicial Custody. Further investigation is in progress.
