Port Blair, Jan 19: Usually at tourist places health care facilities are very basic, be it Darjeling, Ooty, Coorg etc. So when a tourist from Amritsar, Mrs. Jasbir Kaur, developed heart block on her last day of stay in these Islands, they thought for the worst as patient cannot be airlifted without pacemaker. However soon somebody suggested them about Health Care centre at Chakraborty Multi Specialty Hospital.
They immediately brought the patient to us and emergency temporary pacemaker implantation was done in the middle of night, as pulse was dropping alarmingly low, infact less than 35 bpm.
On the very next day permanent pacemaker implantation was done.
A happy and fit tourist was sent back on third post operative day.
