Port Blair, Dec 02: A Three Day In-Service Training Programme of PST’s, GTT’s and Headmasters of (Primary & Middle) Schools of Mayabunder Zone was organized by the Dr. S. R. DIET, Garacharma, Port Blair under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme at Mayabunder on 01st December, 2014 with the support and Guidance of Deputy Education Officer, Mayabunder.
Mr. Sony Thomas, Up-Adhyaksh, Zilla Parishad (Middle & North Andaman) was the Chief Guest of the function. In his address the Chief Guest emphasized the role of the teachers in the Society for the overall development of the children and inculcating moral values. He stressed such type of In-Service Training is needed to the teachers for up to date the recent information/trends in teaching methodology.
Mr. Mammen Thomas, Deputy Education Officer, Mayabunder Zone honored the Chief Guest and welcomed the gathering. He asked all the Teacher participants to attend the training programme whenever the opportunity comes and explained about the benefit of such Training Programme. He added DIET is only Training Institute in Andaman & Nicobar Islands and this is nodal agency for Primary & Elementary Teacher Education.
Mr. B. M. Nair, Faculty of DIET, Port Blair and Programme Coordinator explained the aims and needs for conducting the Training Programme for Teachers working in far flung areas.
