Port Blair, Mar 30: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, President, Pradesh Congress Committee, met the Commissioner-Cum-Secretary (Shipping) of Andaman & Nicobar Administration on 30/03/2012 and highlighted problems being faced by the people of Katchal Island as passenger ships bound for Port Blair and Campbell Bay are not coming to anchor for lifting passengers.
“If this is not possible patients (referral) cases to the G.B. Pant are to be as shifted to Kamorta in advance by other sources like small boats to Kamorta so that ship bound for Port Blair can take the referred patient from Kamorta to Port Blair,” he said during the meeting.
Kuldeep has requested to arrange for calling at the ships as far as Possible on anchorage at Katchal Island for embarkation and disembarkation of passengers.
“Or else speed boat to be provided from Katchat to Kamorta as and when ship touches Kamorta from Port Blair to Campbell Bay and vice-versa arrive,” he demanded.
The Commissioner-Cum-Secretary (Shipping) has assured to settle the matter immediately.
