Port Blair, Sept 03: The Member of Parliament Mr Bishnu Pada Ray, Andaman & Nicobar Islands today appealed all the Heads of different banks to contribute funds under “Corporate Social Responsibility” for the development of these Islands and to join hands into the sector of Modern Village.
Addressing media in the conference hall of SBI R –SETI today the MP appealed to all the employees of the bank to donate their one day salary of a month towards the development of the islands and for the country. He also appealed all the government employees to donate their one day salary for the development of the islands and added that he is in a conversation with the senior government officials to make it functional.
He urged the people to open bank account under Prime Minister’s Jan Dhan Yojna. Addressing the assemblage, the MP urged the students of schools and colleges to open bank accounts. For this purpose, all banks will conduct camps at school and colleges soon. He expressed hope that A & N Islands will see opening of highest number of bank accounts in the given time.
He also stressed for resolving the tele-connectivity issue in the isles.
The MP urged the administration to allot 400 sq meter of land to State Bank of India at Campbell Bay, Kadamtala and Neil Island for opening of new branches.
He said that the SBI is ready to open 3 new branches at Neil Island, Campbell Bay and Kadamtala but due to the issue of land the branches are not opened yet.
The Regional Manager, SBI, Mr. R.K.Trivedi highlighted on the benefits of Ru-Pay cards. The other bank managers present on the occasion also spoke about their Corporate Social Responsibility.
