Mayabunder, Aug 25: When the entire Andaman and Nicobar Islands, including the Administration slowly forgot about the recently Musth Elephant Shootout case, Andaman Sheekha team continued investigation in this matter, to bring out the hidden truth about the entire episode.
To the utter dismay of Andaman Sheekha team, it was learnt that a cow elephant ‘Tara Kumari’ had suffered two bullet injuries during the Musth Elephant ‘Sanjeev Prasad’ shootout case.
According to reports, ‘Tara Kumari’ suffered one bullet injuries on her tail while another bullet entered her right thigh, causing serious injuries.
The elephant is reportedly struggling with pain since that day. The bullet on the tail was somehow removed by the Mahout but the Mahout and the owner of the Elephant have no idea about the where-about of the second bullet, which entered her thigh.
According to reports, on the day of shooting down ‘Sanjeev Prasad’ the cow elephant ‘Tara Kumari’ of the private forest Contractor was also present at the spot.
Out of panic when the Police and IRBn Jawans opened fire towards ‘Sanjeev Prasad’ out of nearly 250 rounds two bullets hit ‘Tara Kumari’.
It is reported that senior police and forest officials have complete knowledge about this incident but sadly instead of treating the elephant a forest official reportedly asked the Mahout of the cow elephant to keep the matter secret and assured early treatment of the elephant.
Andaman Sheekha has evidence which indicate that there were also pressure on the owner and the Mahout to keep the mouth shut in this entire episode as if this matter comes in public domain, some senior officials will face music.
Height of cruelty is that instead of promise no help came from the side of Forest Department till today. The cow elephant is so traumatize that it chase her own Mahout, whenever approached.
However, Mahout of the elephant showed excellent skills and someone managed to clean the wound yesterday, with the help of some friends.
While cleaning the wound one bowl of puss came out, which shows that the elephant has got serious wounds and needs immediate expert medical care.
Infact the Mahout has now been told to get the Elephant treated by his own. Not only this the Forest Department even did not provide tranquilizers to the owner of the Mahout so that the Elephant could be brought under control before starting treatment.
Andaman Sheekha has learnt that this matter has not reached upto the Lt. Governor and the matter was kept hidden from him. It seems half-a-dozens of officers in Middle and North Andaman had knowledge about it, yet the matter was not made public.
Even the long press release issued by SP, North and Middle Andaman had not mentioned about injuries to ‘Tara Kumari’, when uniformed men under his command had shot the elephant. Andaman Sheekha tried to contact the SP of North and Middle Andaman today to get the version of Police Department but there was no response to Andaman Sheekha’s phone call.
This is sad that a voiceless docile Animal was first shot and then the Animal was left inside the forest to die, is this Humanity? Is anyone in this Administration answerable to anything?
