Port Blair, Aug 13: The Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association, Andaman and Nicobar Islands has demanded immediate action to give promotion to all the eligible Head Clerks to the posts of Office Superintendent.
In a letter submitted to the Chief Secretary, A & N Administration, Shri D. Ayyappan, General Secretary of the Association said that the proposal for promotion to the posts of Office Superintendent is pending in the Personnel Department of the Administration for the last two months. Expressing serious concern over the undue delay in processing the promotion case, Shri D. Ayyappan said that employees with 35 years or so of service are waiting for promotion and any delay in processing the promotion case tantamount to denial of promotion to them.
The Association has pointed out that normally it was at the fag end of the service that employees are considered for promotion to the posts of Office Superintendent. The Association sought the intervention of the Chief Secretary in the matter and requested him to direct the authorities concerned to process the promotion cases to the posts of Office Superintendent in the Administration considering the fact that employees with 35 years or more service are waiting for such promotion.
