Mayabunder , July 31: The Officials of Forest Department lead by Mr. Anisha Kalkoor, IFS and Police personnel headed by Mr. Madhab Halder, SHO were started combing operation from the morning itself in the nearby areas adjacent to Mohanpur and Austin jungle in search of the Musth elephant “Sanjeev Prasad” that was on rampage for the last one week to shoot at sight.
During the course of search operation, a large number of residents of Mohanpur area who were accommodated at Govt School Mohanpur and were provided with basic needs, became aggressive and raised voice to solve the menace of Musth elephant immediately and disrupted in performing the duties of the officials who are sincerely and with utmost devotion working round the clock to implement the order of PCCF (WL) A &N Islands to shoot at sight of the rogue elephant with the intention to eradicate the panic created among the entire residents of North and Middle Andaman in last few days.
Such situation occurred only in a compelling circumstance, which was beyond the control of officials involved day & night in search operation such as Forest Department,Police Department who are sincerely worrying to shoot at sight the Musth elephant without any untoward incidence / loss of any other livelihood, public life or property for peaceful living of the residents of these localities.
At about 1645 hours, Mr. G.N.Sinha, IFS, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, (Wildlife) ANI, Smti Menaka, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, North and Middle Andaman, Mr. Santhosh Kumar Meena, Superintendent of Police North and Middle Andaman, Mr. Chander Kumar Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police, (SDPO) Diglipur, Mr. SK Thomas, ACF WL Mr. Madhab Halder, S.H.O. with armed team of forest and police visited the Austin –II village area and selected a camp to accommodate IRBn to keep proper watch of the Musth elephant and organize proper operation to implement the order of Shoot at sight and thereafter reached Mohanpur at 1750 hours.
Finally, 1848 hours the team by taking maximum risk and soul on their hand reached at Austin – II village through the danger zone in a great horror and crossed Pathergoom at about 1905 hours and reached Mayabunder at night about 1930 hours.
Smti Menaka, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, North and Middle Andaman in the presence of all the senior officers who were present addressed the large public accommodated at Govt. School, Mohanpur and assured to provide all basic needs required. In the meantime, she also directed the AC (Diglipur) to provide all the assistance such as water, electricity, firewood, meals and other essential needs round the clock.
From the sources it is learnt that the team will start the operation work on 01st August 2014 at 0600 hours.
During the entire process of the operation, Smti Menaka, IAS, D.C North and Middle Andaman was present even without worrying about her physical condition and continuously performed journey in strain and encouraged the entire team engaged in the special task, which is an exceptional case. This shows her dedication and sincerity towards her duties, especially towards people of the area suffered.
