Port Blair, July 24: Wrongly disposed plastic waste in the vicinity of Airport (such as PET bottles, snack wrappers etc) choke water flow in the drains causing spillover during heavy rains. This causes flooding on the runway and affects Air traffic safety and obstructs air operations. Port Blair residents (specially those living in vicinity of the Airport) are requested to kindly ensure the following while disposing off non bio-degradable waste. Place plastic waste correctly in waste bins and not throw it at random; Help the authorities such as PBMC in safe removal; Help keep the drains clean around the Airport and Prevent flooding inside the Airfield premises by correct disposal of all plastic and non-bio-degradable waste.
The above measures will ensure safety of aircraft as also facilitate unhindered AIR operations.
