Rangat, July 14: In a shocking incident today a student fell down from a STS bus at Rangat and suffered fracture on his leg but the driver and the conductor of the bus, preferred to ignore and moved on, despite intimation by other students.
According to details available here the student, Master. Sahil Kujur, studying in 9th class in Rangat School got into a STS bus at Pranasala today but as there was heavy rush inside the bus the student fell down from the bus, when it was moving, and got his leg fractured. The student also suffered other minor injuries and he was later admitted in CHC Rangat.
According to students present on the bus they shouted and raised the alarm but neither the conductor nor the Bus Driver paid any heed and they continued to move ahead.
When investigated it is learnt that the bus which is put on the service for school trip for the students of Sabri and Pranasala is too small in size. The bus usually gets overcrowded with students of Sabri School and when the bus reaches Pranasala, students at Pranasala find it too difficult to accommodate themselves. Some of them could be seen standing on the foot board of the bus everyday. People of the area have been demanding a bigger bus for the school trip since a long time but no one in Transport Department is paying any heed.
In this case, when Andaman Sheekha correspondent and other villagers contacted the Station Master of STS depot, he did not give proper reply to the public and media, which shows the height of negligence prevailing at Rangat Depot of STS. Perhaps the Transport Department is waiting for some more deadly accidents to happen before taking some action in this regard.
