Port Blair, July 10: Lt Governor, Lt Gen (Retd) A. K. Singh, today visited the Water Treatment Plant, Lambaline and inspected the samples of treated water, supplied to the citizens. He was briefed by the CE, APWD about the maintenance and the operations of the treatment plant. After treatment of the raw water, treated water is supplied to PBMC for onward distribution to the consumers. The Lt Governor was satisfied with the water samples and the operation of the treatment plant. He directed that APWD and PBMC should also check the distribution system and ensure that treated water is supplied to the consumers in a proper manner.
Thereafter, the Lt Governor visited the Sunder Colony near Megapode Resort and inspected the road and bridge, which was demolished due to flooding in the cyclone ‘Lehar’. He appreciated the efforts for reconstructing the road and the culvert within a period of three months. The Lt Governor directed that Secretary (UD) should issue directions to PBMC to ensure that proper cleanliness of the nallah is done. He observed that the residents of area be involved in keeping the nallah clean by encouraging them not to dump plastic bottles and garbage in the nallah.
