Port Blair, July 03: There has been a lot of letter writing exercise from the side of Political leaders demanding free book for all students. Almost every political party has placed such demands, giving a tough time to the Administration. But the million dollar question here is when the Government of India has cut so much amount in our annual budget and when there is huge shortage of funds for development projects, do we really need free books for each and every students of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The subsidy culture of Andaman and Nicobar Islands is pulling us back in many fronts, which each and every Islander must realize.
If free books for every student are such a necessity then why can’t all schools, political leaders organize Annual Book Donation Camp and encourage students to donate their books to Juniors, free of cost.
As a leader or member of Civil Society, we have a responsibility towards society too. Why no political leader thinks in this line? Time to give a deep though?
