Port Blair, June 18: Following complaints received by the residents of Dairy Farm regarding unsatisfactory service by staffs of Urban Health Centre, the Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lt. Gen (Retd.) A K Singh made a surprise visit of UHC Dairy Farm at 1.00 PM just to find that the UHC was locked from outside and all staffs had gone for lunch. Residents of the area alleged that everyday the UHC is closed at 12.30 noon and re-opened only after 3.00 PM.
Lt. Governor later directed the Principal Secretary (Health) and the Director of Health to visit the UHC and submit a report to him.
Residents of the area however were surprised to see Lt. Governor personally visiting the UHC to see the ground realities and interacting with public.
