Sheekha Bureau
Port Blair, June 10: A special team of Central Bureau of Investigation today raided a rented house in Doctor Colony in Fake Ticket Racket case. The raid began at 9.00 AM and continued till night.
According to details two persons have been arrested by CBI in this raid but the CBI has requested Andaman Sheekha not to reveal more details about this case till 11.06.2014, for obvious reasons. Hence Andaman Sheekha would be publishing details about this crucial raid of CBI, in coming editions.
However, according to the house owner, where the raid was conducted, the raided house was rented out to a Defence Person nearly 15 days back and he had no idea about the involvement of the persons in Fake ticket racket.
Fake tickets are reportedly being grossly used by Defence People and also by LTC tourists. Earlier, addressing top officers of ANC today during farewell function on May 30, 2014, Air Marshal P K Roy had asked all officers to guard Andaman and Nicobar Command against Fake ticket racket. “For small profit one should not compromise with the ethics and the dignity of uniform,” Roy said in his speech, perhaps he had an idea about such action by Investigating Agencies.
The Kolkata Police was the first to stumble upon the fake ticket racket in March 2013, when it detained a passenger at Kolkota airport with more than 600 blank boarding passes of Air India. He was to board a SpiceJet aircraft to Port Blair. On being interrogated, he claimed that he was to deliver it to someone in the Andamans. The surmise is that this someone in the Andamans was to fill up fictitious details of flights there on the blank boarding passes.
