Port Blair, Mar 26: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, President 1NTUC accompanied with the office bearers of the Municipal Council Employees’ Union held discussion with the Chairperson, PBMC in the presence of Sr. vice Chairperson, Jr. Vice Chairperson and Secretary of the Council on 22.03.2012 and deliberated on various issues concerning with the workers of the Council laying emphasis on the issue of regularization of the services of Daily Rated work charged mazdoors, sanitary workers and drivers against the existing corresponding vacancies and to find out means to give regular appointment to remaining daily rated workers, early conduct of trade test and DPC for promotions, exclusion of educational qualification of matriculation prescribed for promotion in the Recruitment Rules for the posts in the Pay Band of Rs.5200 – 20200/- with grade pay of Rs 1800/-, implementation of promotion scheme for Staff Car/HVD drivers and MACP concurrently, implementation of prescribed norms for compassionate appointment and early settlement of various service matter related to maintenance of EPF account, grant of financial benefits under MACP, enhancement of washing allowance & stitching charges, timely supply of liveries and also extending the benefits to work charged mazdoors & workers of Electrical section , introduction of night duty allowance and risk allowance/ insurance; scheme norms’ etc.
The Chairperson, PBMC informed that the Council is aware of and is attending many of the above proposed issues. She also assured to look into the other grievances of the workers projected by the President INTUC and to settle them as per merit giving priority to the issues pertaining to service matter of the Workmen.
