Mayabunder, June 08: The Lt. Governor Lt General (Retd.) A K Singh visited Mayabunder tehsil under North & Middle Andaman District yesterday. The Lt Governor visited Dr. R.P. Hospital, Mayabunder and inaugurated the newly built Dialysis Unit. The Member of Parliament, Shri Bishnu Pada Ray also graced the occasion. The Chief Secretary, Shri Anand Prakash and other senior officers of the Administration were present on the occasion.
On arrival, he was appalled by the lack of cleanliness, with garbage lying all around Mayabunder areas. He expressed his displeasure over this state of affairs and asked the Deputy Commissioner and the Panchayat representatives to immediately workout a plan for ensuring cleanliness of the area.
Inaugurating the newly built Dialysis Unit, the Lt Governor congratulated the Health Department and APWD for having completed this important facility for the citizens of North Andaman. He also complimented the team of Doctors and Nursing staff, who have come forwarded to undertake training for operating this unit. He also mentioned that this is a good team work and dedication by the Health Department to execute the project in a time bound manner. He wished that in future the officers of the Administration will be able to deliver timely services/projects. The Lt Governor also interacted with the patients in the hospital. He mentioned that the Hon’ble MP had written to him on this subject, as also the PRIs had drawn his attention and he was happy to see the fructification of this important project. The Lt Governor also gave directions to establish a ‘Blood Bank’ at Mayabunder within one year.
The Member of Parliament, who also spoke on the occasion, complimented the Lt Governor for his leadership and guidance as well as quick on the spot decision to resolve people’s problems. While thanking the team of Health Department for setting up the facilities, he urged all officers of the Administration to work in a positive manner and implement all development projects under the able guidance of the Lt Governor.
The Lt Governor also held a meeting with PRI Members and Heads of Offices of Mayabunder tehsil at the APWD Guest House, Mayabunder. The Lt. Governor heard grievances related to water, electricity, roads and connectivity put-forth by the PRIs and directed the Officers to sort-out the issues in a time bound manner, with on the spot decisions whose progress will be monitored by the Chief Secretary and Secretary to LG.
Speaking on the occasion, the Member of Parliament also requested the PRI Members and Officers to work in a positive manner to fulfill the grievances of the general public of North & Middle Andaman District.
The Adhyaksh Zila Parishad, Shri K Srinivasan and other PRIs interacted with the Lt Governor in a free and frank manner to get their problems resolved.
