Port Blair, Mar 25: Death of a Seaman, Mr. P Gopi, under mysterious condition has triggered a fresh controversy in A & N Islands. According to reports the injured body of Mr. P Gopi was found at Mazaar Pahar road, between Sinclair hotel and Mazaar on Friday evening with serious injuries on head and minor injuries on hand.
According to family members Gopi had gone to Mazaar Pahar Area for evening walk as per his daily routine.
When the body was picked up by Police Control Room vehicle of A & N Police on Friday evening Gopi was alive but unconscious. He was immediately admitted in Hospital but at nearly 4.00 am Gopi Succumbed to his injuries.
Though the police believe that the cause of the death was some kind of accident but family members of Gopi demanded a probe into the death as they strongly believe that Gopi was murdered.
“On getting information, I alongwith my family members went to hospital and found that my son’s whole body was covered with severe injuries. I am very confident that it is a case of attempt to murder,” P Kamaraju, father of Late P Gope said in his written police complaint yesterday.
However Police Department says that investigations are going on. “The Post Mortem report says that the cause of murder was HEAD INJURY WITH AN BLUNT OBJECT. Therefore it doesn’t look like a murder but we are open and trying to find out who is exactly behind Gopi’s death. A case already been registered and investigations are on,” SBS Tyagi the Superintendent of Police of South Andaman told ‘Andaman Sheekha’ yesterday over phone.
